All About Hair Clays and Why Should I Put Clay in My Hair?
Hair clays & pastes are becoming the next trendy barber product. Hair clays are basically a styling cream or pomade type product with blends of silicas, bentonites, and kaolin clays added in. But why should I put clay in my hair? Hair clays have distinct properties which include volumizing, mattifying and great hold. The added silicas, bentonites and kaolin cut the shine of the product, helps absorb excess oils from your hair and scalp, and adds great volumizing hold.
Which clay should I choose? There is no right or wrong answer here. Choose the one that works the best for your hair. Some hair clays are thicker, stiffer and drier than others. These types may have more hold, dryness, and volumizing than a softer, wetter clay. The higher silica and clay content products (feels drier and stiffer) may even be able to be used to help extend your time between washes like a dry shampoo.
